Did Emmy-Award winning scribe Aaron Sorkin stick to the truth or play fast with the facts in his Broadway play, “The Farnsworth Invention” about the invention of TV and the patent war that ensured?
Lying on The Beach gets the real scoop from Paul Schatzkin the expert and author of “The Boy Who Invented Television” about the life of Philo T. Farnsworth. In an effort to sort fact from fiction, Schatzkin has posted a website that details scene-by-scene the ways the play, written by the Emmy-Award winning creator of The West Wing and writer of Charlie Wilson’s War, both distorts and is faithful to the real story of the invention of TV. It is a fascinating tale about creating entertainment, rewriting history, and setting the record straight. Schatzkin’s next book is “Defying Gravity, The Parallel Universe of P Townsend Brown,” on the mysterious and elusive inventor of the Ionic breeze air purifier. For more information, visit: thefarnsworthinvention.com and www.ptbrown.com.

Rosie Appears At NY Comedy Festival Tonight At Avery Fisher Hall
Click here to find out how the TV networks responded to our scoop yesterday about Rosie scoring her own TV talk show. We got the phone calls and the questions on how well we think Rosie will do. All of a sudden our vote and counsel matters. It takes mixing a journalist with a publicist to get the final analysis. Rosie will probably talk about us tonight from the stage unless her handlers get the “upper hand.”

LyingOnTheBeach.com, a pod cast hosted by Journalist Steve Greenberg and Publicist Lois Whitman, got one of biggest scoops in TV land tonight during “An Evening With Rosie O’Donnell” at the Miami Book Fair International 2007. Rosie was on hand to promote her new book,” Celebrity Detox,” to the hundreds of people who showed up to hear her tell all about the ups and down of being in the spotlight. She was dishing pretty hard at her so called “family” on The View when all of a sudden she blurted out that she just signed a deal (the ink is still wet) to host her own TV talk show competing with the guy with the suspenders and the long face. She couldn’t go into more details because her PR handlers were trying to shut her up. Lois and Steve spoke to Rosie privately and the details are spelled out on our pod cast. The picture accompanying the pod cast is Rosie with Steve and the rest of the Greenberg clan. Lois’ husband is far right. Rosie said she always wanted to be Jewish. Click here to hear Steve and Lois wish Rosie a hearty Mazel Tov.

Just got back from a two week tour to Eastern Europe—Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest, Vienna, Prague and then Helsinki because we were flying Finnair. 30 in our group with a top of the line tour guide. We were visiting some very serious sites like WWII concentration camps, Jewish communities that were desecrated, cemeteries from the early 1700’s
that had bodies stacked 12 rows high and memorials that had stories to tear your heart out. Don’t feel too bad for us. the 14 days were also filled with the best restaurants, the best music, the best group of strangers to meet up and tour together. The highlight of the trip was our guide, Pavel Cernosek from Prague. He traveled with us from Warsaw on.
the 30 of us were mesmerized by his information, his delivery, and the seriousness of his profession. Lying on the Beach thought it was just too good of an opportunity not to interview Pavel to find out why he is in the tour business, how he got into it and where he hopes to be a few years from now. Click here to hear Pavel and if you ever want to hire
him, email pavel.cernosek@seznam.cz
